Dealing with difficult people blog
Egos Egos Everywhere
I was thinking this week about the different political heavy weights whose egos seem to get in the way of what they try to accomplish 'in the name of the American People' and the broadcasters who stand ready to smear them in one way or another with their massive egos as well.
BTW if you've suddenly gotten the idea that YOUR guy or gal doesn't show these tendencies because your side of things is 'right', for-get-a-bout-it. I'm talking both 'sides' and almost everyone I can think of on any 'SIDE! '
Being RIGHT is almost a sure sign of someone's EGO getting into the mix. Perhaps more politicians and political pundits should really think about Wayne Dyer's perspective -- "If you have a choice between being right and being kind, choose being kind."
Wouldn't it be nice if just once in awhile these influential people would actually take a step back, really look at themselves, and spend a whole day being kind stead of being right? WOW! Would that ever shake things up.
Oh well, at least you and I can try. Right?
Best,
Joe Koob

Idea and Musings
Just for the record, I have just about seen it all, and I have made the effort to read just about everything that's available about "Understanding and Working with Difficult People." What I write about does work and my coaching clients have all changed their life and work lives significantly, by applying the concepts I have learned and further developed in my own work. So ask away. Specific scenarios are welcome, but please don't use real names.
The REAL KEY to 'difficult people' and 'difficult situations' is acknowledging that YOU can make a difference. Hence my "Seven Keys" -- Self-Awareness; Self-Worth; Self-confidence; Self-Control; Honesty; Kindness; and Positivity, are all grounded in what YOU can do.
Stay tuned. Next up: EGO!

Forgiveness
This is one of those key elements in our lives philosophically or religiously that we far too seem to skip over. Think back on just a few incidences in your life where someone ‘done you wrong.’ Have you ever truly been able to forgive them; been able to let it go; been able to think about them without tension or angst creeping into your psyche?
If not, then you still have some work to do.
Possession
I have often wondered what we really own. The truth is we try to own lots of things. We even try to own, in a sense, people in our lives. Do we own any of these things we ‘possess?’
“Don’t walk on MY yard!”
“Hey, that’s MY….”
“She’s MY girlfriend.”
“I have----“
Take some time to think about this very important concept today. What, if anything, do we really own? What, if you get down to the real basics, do we carry with us always?
